The Fast Show Reloaded Report
The whole idea behind the Fast Show Reloaded weekend was to “Reload” the popular Fast Show event, with a prime summer date, and boy was it a scorcher! In fact, Saturday was the hottest day of the year so far with temperatures recorded at a whopping 30 degrees! Whilst that may have been a tad warm for high performance from the combustion engines, it was lovely for those enjoying a beer in the campsites and club areas with their mates. Thankfully, the main show day was a little more bearable and we were all able to enjoy the show without melting.
It was a decent turn out for what is a brand-new show with a strong showing from the car clubs and some impressive entries on track and in the Autoglym Show & Shine paddock. We were also pleased to welcome the Propper Droppers sound off competition to Santa Pod for the first time.
The live action arena was a hub of entertainment throughout the day with International drifters Team Maximum Lock sliding around the arena with Portuguese stunt man Ricardo Domingos pulling out all the stops with his smart car, motorbike and quad bike display! In between shows, the arena was opened up for the handling track competition which proved a test of quick steering wheel work. It was a nimble Audi A3 that took the 2019 Handling Track title driven by Ross Thompson who navigated the course in an impressive time of 29.12 seconds.
The pace was a little slower in the Autoglym Show & Shine paddock but there were some stunning cars on display – in fact there were so many that some probably went home without a trophy who would have been very worthy of receiving one. We’d like to thank everyone who entered their cars and took part but special congratulations go to the following winners:
The action on track was fast and furious throughout the day with the FWD Drag Series competitors duking it out for the all-important championship points. Dougie Gemmell won the war of attrition in his 10 second Honda Civic taking top honours defeating a broken Allan Duthie in the final.
The RWYB leader board was ever changing we’d like to congratulate the following winners:
Class A – Road Legal
10.5978 @ 130mph
As impressive as the RWYB times were, it was the FireForce 5 Jet Dragster that set the quickest and fastest time of the day with a mind-blowing pass of 5.38 @ 292mph.
Thank you to everyone that attended and brought a car along to what we’re sure will be the first of many Fast Show Reloaded’s to come!
